Private sector responds to Springwood Town Centre

Blue Mountains City Council General Manager, Phil Pinyon has confirmed that all of the three private sector parties involved in Springwood Town Centre redevelopment process remain interested, despite the financial crisis.

"In accordance with the Council’s recent decision, Council wrote to each of the three proponents who were shortlisted from the Expression of Interest process, to seek confirmation of their ongoing interest in the Springwood Town Centre redevelopment project, in light of the global financial and economic difficulties", said Mr Pinyon.

"All three proponents, Coles Group, Woolworths Ltd and Jamieson Pty ltd, have responded to Council affirming their intention to continue in the tender process."

Mr Pinyon concluded, "A report detailing the proponent’s responses is expected to be presented to the Council at the Ordinary Meeting of 5 May 2009."

"Options for consultation on the Springwood Town Centre project are currently being considered by the Council. These options include direct community consultation in the form of a poll or referendum. Councillor input on this issue is being sought, after which time a report will be brought to the Council."
