SUBJECT: Expressions of Interest Springwood Town Centre Project

In March 2008 the Council communicated with Woolworths Limited regarding the outcome of stage one of the expression of interest process for the above project and indicated that your submission had been selected to progress in that process.

Since that time there have been major changes experienced in the commercial world. Given the current global financial and economic difficulties faced by many companies, the Council is now seeking to know as a matter of priority if Woolworths Limited intends to remain in the process and still intends delivering the standard and type of development previously indicated in your E0I.

Subject to your response and those from the other two proponents involved in the Springwood process being received, the Council has indicated an intention to undertake further consultation with the community on the project. The Council also intends to take no further action with the Springwood project until a reasonable time has been provided for the receipt of proponents' responses and consideration has been given to consultation mechanisms.

I am writing in response to your letter dated 20 February.

Please be aware that my company is still very much committed to the redevelopment of the town centre as per my expression of interest document lodged with Council.

I appreciate that through consultation with the community, the ultimate redevelopment of the town may differ from my expression. For this reason, as I have previously advised, I am prepared to participate in the consultation process (on an exclusive basis) to ensure that the communities needs and desires are commercially viable and able to be delivered. As my submission is not linked with any specific supermarket, it has maximum flexibility to meet the requirements of the town.

I await further information from Council about the process from here.
