The Springwood Chamber of Commerce has received a $70,000 grant to install some CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) cameras on Macquarie Road. Some other people have expressed concerns about them.

Springwood Chamber of Commerce - $70,000 (NSW). This project will install a CCTV network and upgrade lighting in the main shopping strip of Springwood, to help reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and vandalism.

Katoomba has received a grant under the National Community Crime Prevention Programme:
Katoomba Chamber of Commerce and Community – $60,000 (NSW). The Katoomba CBD Crime Prevention Strategy involves installing a CCTV system and improved lighting in strategic areas adjacent to and including the main street of Katoomba. It is anticipated that the strategy will lead to a reduction of theft, assault, property damage and antisocial behaviour in Katoomba’s retail and tourism precinct.
